Overview

The event.

The Tour of Bright is Australia's most famous amateur stage race. Held every year on the Queen's Birthday weekend and later moved into late November, it takes riders through three stages of alpine racing — a rolling road stage, a summit finish at Mount Hotham, and a shorter kick-in-the-teeth day up Tawonga Gap. Racing is by categorised grade so the field is competitive but appropriate. It is a genuine stage-race experience without needing a UCI licence, and the tiny alpine town of Bright hosts the event beautifully.

Racing atmosphere, alpine passes, cafés spilling onto the streets of Bright, and full trophy presentations on the town oval.

Who it suitsExperienced riders wanting a taste of stage racing. Not a first event.
