Overview
The event.
The Gold Coast T100 Triathlon brings professional and age-group triathlon racing to one of Australia's most iconic coastal destinations. The event weekend includes multiple race options, allowing athletes to experience the atmosphere of the T100 Triathlon World Tour across Olympic-distance, 100 km triathlon and running events. The main T100 race features a 2 km swim, 80 km bike and 18 km run, beginning around Broadwater Parklands before travelling along the Gold Coast and finishing in Surfers Paradise. Dates and event details should always be confirmed with the official organiser.
Broadwater Parklands becomes a festival precinct across the weekend, with professional T100 racing, age-group waves and a finish in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Expect crowds, music and a genuinely international feel.
Who it suitsDeveloping athletes ready for their first Olympic-distance race, and experienced triathletes wanting a fast, flat middle-distance test at 100 km.
Key challengesMarch heat and humidity on the Gold Coast, exposed coastal wind on the bike, and pacing an 18 km run that is longer than a standard half-distance run split feels.

Training Preparation
How long should you train?
A realistic runway to prepare well for Gold Coast T100 Triathlon, based on where you're starting from.
Every athlete is different. These timelines are intended as a guide only and depend on your current fitness, previous experience, lifestyle and goals.
Philippe's Coaching Perspective
What I'd focus on.
If I were coaching you for Gold Coast T100 Triathlon, the first thing we'd protect is the bike. Almost every athlete arrives with enough run fitness to survive and enough swim technique to finish, but under-does the specific bike work the course demands.
Pacing is where races are won or lost. The first hour should feel almost too easy. If you're honest about your fitness rather than optimistic, the second half of the run becomes possible instead of a survival exercise.
The athletes who struggle most are the ones who trained hard but never rehearsed race-day nutrition and pacing in a fatigued state. Practice the whole day, not just the individual disciplines.
